The History of Grove City
The beginning of Grove City can be traced back to land grants bestowed upon Revolutionary War veterans General Daniel Morgan and Colonel William Washington. The first white settler of Jackson Township, Hugh Grant, set up a farm on a portion of this land near the turn of the eighteenth century. In 1846, William Foster Breck purchased fifteen and a half acres from Grant's son. In 1852, Breck and a commission of three other men laid out Grove City.
The community steadily grew and became an incorporated village in March 1866. Upon the completion of the Grove City and Greenlawn Street Railway near the twentieth century, Grove City secured its position as a "bedroom community" of Columbus. With a population over 31,000 Grove City is one of the safest and fastest growing communities in Central Ohio.

Events
Arts in the Alley
Music and arts festival in the Grove City Town Center held in September with a parade on Saturday morning.
Balloons off Broadway
Experience hot air balloons up close at this event in July.
Central Ohio Chili Festival
Sample chili cooked in Central Ohio at Beulah Park. Benefits the Epilepsy Foundation of Central Ohio.
Country Music Festival
Held in July, some of the all-time great country music stars perform for six to eight hours at Beulah Park.
Mud Volleyball Tournaments
Grove City hosts two mud volleyball tournaments that benefit charitable organizations.
Old Time Harvest Day
A hands-on family event held in October at the local historical park portraying what Grove City was like in the 1850s.
Winter Lights Holiday Celebration
The first Friday of December, Grove City kicks off the holiday season with Santa, the traditional holiday parade, ice carvers, and concluding with the lighting of the tree.

Children can satisfy their curiosity and explore the planets in this interactive play area. It is one of the few parks in the nation that is handicap accessible featuring unique swings, a climbing wall, large sand field, creative outdoor sound area, and a cushioned surface.
